Gandhi Jayanti Activity at GCM School

GCM Convent School, Kadial, proudly celebrated **Gandhi Jayanti on 2 October** with a meaningful and engaging classroom activity honouring Mahatma Gandhi, the Father of the Nation. The celebration provided our young learners with an opportunity to learn about Gandhiji’s life, his invaluable contribution to India's freedom struggle, and his timeless teachings of truth, peace and non-violence. Through this special activity, students gained a deeper understanding of the values that continue to inspire generations.

Our students participated enthusiastically in the celebration, holding the Indian national flag and expressing their respect for the great leader. The classroom was beautifully decorated with creative illustrations of Mahatma Gandhi, the spinning wheel, the historic Dandi March and inspirational messages reflecting his philosophy. These creative displays made the learning experience more interesting and helped children connect with important moments in India's history.

The activity also highlighted the importance of honesty, kindness, cleanliness, discipline, patriotism and respect for others. Students learned that Gandhiji's teachings are not limited to history books but can be followed in everyday life through good habits, peaceful behaviour and responsible actions. Such celebrations encourage children to develop confidence, creativity, social awareness and a strong sense of national pride.
